Programming Intern

Working under the supervision of the programming coordinator, learn how the San Francisco International Film Festival’s awards process operates by assisting in the programming campaign for the 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival and other Film Society presentations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get your foot in the door of one of the most successful film festivals in the world. Starting in summer 2008, we begin a cycle of ever-increasing activity that culminates in the Festival, which will run in the spring of 2009. We are looking for energetic, detail-oriented individuals to help us with this process who are able to multitask and exhibit consistent follow-through, who have great communication and organizational skills and who can work under time constraints with grace and a sense of humor.

Requirements
Participate in the organization and administration of the programming department, maintain files, help with mailings and shipping of videotapes, maintain programming databases, process entries and promotional materials, research films and tributees, establish contact with filmmakers and distributors, organize tape library, answer general phone and email inquiries and participate in miscellaneous projects.

Skills
Energetic, committed, flexible, detail-oriented person with good organizational and communication skills. Macintosh experience — including Microsoft Word — required. Experience with FileMaker Pro a plus. Knowledge of languages other than English is helpful.

Hours
Minimum of eight hours a week beginning immediately.
